About Jake Johnson

Jake is the founder of Skov. His mission is to help ambitious founders, startups, and scaleups ship with clarity.

For 15+ years, he’s worked in leadership as an operator across brand, design, and GTM—defining what companies stand for, how they show up, and why they matter.

His work spans rebrands, product launches, content strategy, design systems, user research, and more—all focused on turning insight into momentum.

At Versapay, Jake most recently served as VP of Design. Over four years, he led teams across brand, product marketing, product design, content, and communications. He drove a full rebrand and category platform redesign, built a React-based atomic design system from the ground up, and partnered closely with product and marketing to launch new positioning, GTM campaigns, and AI experience principles.

Before that, he led brand and product marketing at Keap (formerly Infusionsoft), where he helped reposition the company for a new segment with a rename and rebrand, overhauled our positioning to zero in on high-growth entrepreneurs, doubled free trial wins, and launched the “Quiet the Doubters” campaign—earning 3M+ views and reestablishing emotional relevance with small business owners.

Jake co-founded Belief, an award-winning creative agency and then led brand experience at Phinney Bischoff, an award-winning branding firm. He served as a content leader for a global non-profit that had web properties with an excess of 10 million visitors per year. And he worked with clients to write and edit over 20 books, including two New York Times bestsellers. (He also called the shots as a barista ☕️).

Jake’s throughline is simple: build things that matter and ship with clarity. Skov is his way of helping others do the same—with sharper thinking, clearer stories, and better execution. That, and really good coffee.
